2019 Anishinaabe Fair

Loading Events

In 1897, Chief Charles R. Jacobs conceived the idea of an Indian Fair on Bkejwanong Territory. The Times Herald reported nearly 3000 people from across Canada and the US attended the fair in August 1939. The fair had extraordinary acts like tight rope walker James Hardy (Youngest person to tight rope walk across Niagara Falls), the Lone Ranger, Seminole Alligator Wrestlers, Acrobats, Carnival rides, pony rides, re-enactments, and Fortune Telling Gypsies. It’s has been many years since we’ve had the fair and are very excited to have the Anishinaabe Fair back within our community.
