“Mindfulness is my Prozac”, says Dr. Valerie Mason– John M.A (hon.doc) who is one of the new leading African Descent voices in the field of Mindfulness Approaches for addiction and emotional trauma. Raised in orphanages, foster homes, and living on the streets, she was incarcerated aged 15. The symptoms of this were Anorexia Bulimia Nervosa and a drug habit. Mindfulness transformed life, and she is the award-winning author of 8 books, including Detox Your Heart– Meditations on Emotional Trauma and Eight Step Recovery, Using the Buddha’s Teachings to Overcome Addiction. She tours internationally and is the co-founder of the secular program. Mindfulness-Based Addictions Recovery 8 week course.
