Edgar Allan Poe, the famous nineteenth-century American short story writer and poet is coming to Chatham, just in time for Halloween!
The event consists of a reading of Poe’s famous poem, “The Raven,” and of his most horrific story, “The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar,” together with a brief biography of the author. It will last approximately one hour.
There will be three performances, all at the Chatham Branch of the C-K Public Library, 120 Queen St: Thursday. Oct. 26 at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m.
Poe was one of the earliest practitioners of the short story in America, and is considered the inventor of detective fiction and a significant early writer of science fiction.
