Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Canada. This is an annual campaign to increase awareness of this disease.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosis in Canadian women with 26% (1 in 4) cancer diagnoses being breast cancer. This is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in Canadian women, after lung cancer.

Today fewer Canadian women are dying from breast cancer than in the past. This is mostly attributed to earlier detection through regular mammography screening, advances in screening technology, and improved treatments.

We have made a lot of progress but still have a long way to go and need your help!
